Maria Sosyan

Maria Sosyan is a District 1 At-Large Representative.

Born in Yerevan, Armenia, Maria emigrated to Los Angeles at the age of 7 and has been a San Fernando Valley resident for well over 20 years. Following her election in 2019, Maria first served as Secretary of the NoHo Neighborhood Council, then as Vice President. Between 2019 and 2021, Maria also served as Chair of the Outreach Committee and as Secretary of the Arts, Parks and Beautification committee.

 

Over the course of her career, Maria has advocated for marginalized groups throughout Los Angeles and abroad, amplified the voices of communities in crises through digital media, and championed for change here at home.

 

Maria is passionate about economic justice, the arts, equal access to quality education, women's rights, and accessibility for all.
